Platform for RHS Flower Shows

by Mark Rowe

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has entered into a five-year partnership with an event safety and incident reporting platform for use across all of their major events annually, such as the Chelsea Flower Show, RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival, RHS Sandringham, RHS Badminton and RHS Wentworth Woodhouse Flower Shows.

The first of the summer, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, ran at Royal Hospital Chelsea over five days late in May. The RHS, a charity, was responsible for the safety of 400 exhibitors and around 145,000 visitors, including members of the Royal Family and VIPs such as Sir David Beckham.

The software from Halo Solutions connects venue and event teams and partner agencies including police, medical, fire, CCTV, event operations and customer care to centrally monitor and respond to incidents and concerns. Multiple agencies can concurrently log and record all activities using Halo’s app in real-time, with mobile and desktop applications, getting the picture to the right people, and storing audit trails on incidents, tasks and responses. The vendor says that RHS are streamlining their reporting process, providing an integrated, auditable system that brings everything into one place.

David Edwards, Head of Operations, RHS, said: “We selected Halo to enhance RHS’s business and safety intelligence, and it has exceeded our expectations. The power of real-time reporting and the ability to maintain a robust, auditable record have been game-changers. Implementation was seamless—just one hour of training—and the feedback from our team has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Verena Gielen, Operations Manager, RHS added: “It’s been incredibly exciting to work alongside such a forward-thinking team during the rollout of Halo. The collaboration, energy, and shared commitment to improving our safety and business intelligence have made this a standout experience. Seeing the immediate benefits and positive feedback has been truly rewarding.

Lloyd Major, CEO of Halo Solutions, was founder of the firm in 2014, and is a former police officer. He said: “As the UK prepares to host hundreds of major public events this summer, the pressure on public safety operations continues to grow. Yet, many organisations still use antiquated systems and processes to manage communication and incident reporting. It’s great to see the RHS investing in technology that connects information meaningfully, addresses these challenges by integrating multi-agency co-ordination, geolocation, offline reporting capabilities and public reporting tools with a single platform – and it’s wonderful to hear how this is empowering their teams with greater shared situational awareness, improved decision-making, and operational accountability.

“Working with the RHS is a privilege. The collaboration between their operations team and agency partners is exactly what Halo is built for – enhancing communication, keeping digital records and, most importantly, keeping the public safe.”
